WORLD COMES TO PALM BEACHES

The Grand Bahama Sports Festival Sportcation (Part sporting event, part vacation, part culture) event that annually draws over 500 visitors to the Grand Bahama to participate in Lacrosse, Baseball, and Basketball.

 

WORLD COMES TO PALM BEACHES 2019 RESULTS

18U Division I - Aruba 4 Panama 3

- Highlighted by two future professional pitchers, Luis Guerrero of Panama & Melkis Peguero of Aruba (both of which can throw in mid-90's), both teams teams and their respective crowds were boisterous until the end of a 4-3 victory for Aruba.

18U Division II - Australia vs Jamaica Rained Out, Australia declared victory based on run differential

- After traveling 9,331 miles from their hometown and over twenty-four hours in the air, team Australia was ready to play baseball. Manager Ben Moore led this unit to three straight victories and capturing the 18U D2 Championship.

15U - Russia upsets USA 7-3

- At the 3rd annual World Comes to Palm Beach, Russia pulled off a stunning upset against defending champions USA. After losing a friendly game vs a local Florida school 20-2 just 2 days before the tournament, the Moscow Cardinals were fired up and devoted to victory. Led by pitching sensation Enrike Seville Milyanes , the Cardinals were victorious against Aruba, Cayman Islands, and Canada before their final win against the USA. Sevilla himself shut down Aruba on day one with a 7-1 victory and started in the final against the USA on one days rest.


Challenge Cup USA-Girls Travel Baseball, Russia, Cayman Islands, & Guatemala 15U winner USA-GTB

- Organizers were unsure of the level of competition when allowing the 16U USA-GTB (Girls Travel Baseball) to compete in a Challenge Cup 4 team tournament with the 15U male teams that were from Guatemala, Cayman Islands, and Champion 15U Russia. Those doubts were quickly diminished within the first inning. Highlighted by a fantastic performance starting pitcher Olivia Clines, who held the Russians to one run over five innings, the team fought their way into the Championship game vs Guatemala. Although it was rained out, USA-GTR was ruled the Champions of the Challenge Cup as they defeated Guatemala in a friendly the day before.


Team Earth 18U from all around the World

- Team Earth 18U symbolizes the main message of sports: "They just want to play!" Made of of players and coaches from countries not competing as a team, Team Earth 18U went 1-2. Players included were catcher Guillem Maled from Spain (voted as Team MVP), pitcher Cameron Meadows from the Bahamas, and Matthew and David Daniels who were born in the Philippines and Vietnam respectavly. The coaching staff included Kristjan Puustusmaa (President of Estonia Baseball Federacion) and Fernando Garcia from Uruguay.
